D. C. I am inclined to think that we ought to show at any rate some reluctance to approving this loss being written off at present. The key was, apparently, the only Official key. We are not told 1) who was responsible for keeping it, 2) how it came about that "the key" became available to unauthorised persons, 3) Whether the shroff or shroffs in charge of the key gave security (as our may suppose they did) for the due discharge of their duties, 4) why this loss of $1589, or part of it...
